Ganesh Chaturthi is around the corner and people have already started prepping for this festival. Ganeshotsav is a ten-day-long festival celebrated across India with pomp and grandeur. It is observed on the fourth day of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month according to the Hindu calendar. And as per the English calender, it generally falls in the month of August or September. This year the festival will be celebrated on August 31, 2022.

Ganesh Chaturthi is vividly celebrated by everyone irrespective of caste or community or religion. Devotees welcome lord Ganesha into their home with happiness and offer delicious sweets to the god. 

Lord Ganesha’s favourite sweet is Modak and people make sure to offer it to God. They even try to make different types of modak apart from authentic ones. People try to make steamed modak, chocolate modak, dry fruit modak and what not. 

Here are a few recipes for Modak that will surely help you make your festival a special one. 

1) Sugar-Free Khajur Modak

Ingredients: 
  • 300-gram dates
  • 50-gram pumpkin seeds
  • 10-12 pc almonds
  • 30-gram watermelon seeds
  • 10-12-gram sesame seeds
  • Milk as you needed

Preparation:
  • Dry roast pumpkin seeds, almonds, watermelon seeds, and season seeds in a pan and keep it aside.
  • Grind seedless dates and milk together and keep the mixture aside.
  • Now again grind the milk and dates mixture with roasted seeds.
  • Once the final mixture is ready make modaks using mold.
  • Your tasty modak is ready to offer Lord Ganesha





2) Paneer Gulkand Modak

Ingredients:
  1. 250-300 grams cheena or grated paneer
  2. ¼ cup powder sugar
  3.  ¾ cup milk powder
  4. 1 tsp cardamom powder
  5. 1-2 tsp ghee

To Make Gulkand Mixture:
  1. 2 tbsp gulkand
  2. 2-3 tbsp desiccated coconut
  3. Some chopped almonds
  4. Some chopped pistachio
  5. Few drops red colour

For Garnishing:
  • Some chopped pistachio
  • Silver varak

Preparation: 
  • Heat ghee and grated paneer in a pan (on low flame)
  • Add powdered sugar and milk powder and mix it well in the pan on a low flame.
  • Keep the mixture aside and let it cool down.
  • Simultaneously make the gulkand mixture.
  • In a bowl add gulkand, desiccated coconut, chopped almonds and chopped pistachio and few drops red colour. Mix this well.
  • Now fill up the paneer mixture first and stuff it with gulkand mixture.
  • You paneer modak is ready to offer Lord Ganesha
